Dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Your Excellency sir,

Re-90billion Naira subsidy on 2024 Hajj pilgrimage and Diversification of Nigeria economy through Investment in Agro-Allied Industrial Parks

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to bring to your attention an important matter that pertains to the allocation of funds and the potential for diversifying Nigeria’s economy.

Recent reports about the purported 90 billion naira subsidy on Hajj have raised concerns among the citizens. In light of these revelations, I would like to propose an alternative use of a portion of these funds that could have a significant positive impact on the economy and agriculture sector in particular.

I humbly suggest that a diversification plan be implemented, allocating just 55 billion naira at 1.5 billion naira per state of 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. These funds could be utilized to establish integrated Agro-Allied Industrial Parks on 1000 acres of land in each state. This endeavor would not only promote sustainable agriculture practices but also create economic opportunities, generate employment, and boost food security in the country.

The establishment of these industrial parks would ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to agriculture, incorporating various aspects such as crop cultivation, livestock farming, processing facilities, research and development, and storage facilities. By harnessing modern and innovative technologies, these parks can become centers of excellence in agro-processing and value addition, producing high-quality agricultural products for both domestic consumption and export.

Moreover, the construction and development of these industrial parks would stimulate local industries such as construction, logistics, equipment manufacturing, and service providers, thereby contributing to the growth of the overall economy. Additionally, the parks could serve as hubs for training and skill development, empowering local farmers and entrepreneurs with the necessary knowledge to engage in modern farming practices and value chain development.

By investing in the agricultural sector through these Agro-Allied Industrial Parks, Nigeria can reduce its dependence on oil revenue and foster sustainable economic growth. The diversification of the economy will not only create employment opportunities but also reduce our reliance on imported agricultural products, thus improving our trade balance.

I kindly request your careful consideration of this proposal, as it has the potential to transform the agricultural landscape of our great nation. By focusing on agro-allied industries, we can create a multiplier effect on the economy, improving the livelihoods of our people and positioning Nigeria as a leader in the agricultural sector.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, Your Excellency. I remain hopeful that your leadership will prioritize the diversification of the economy and the establishment of Agro-Allied Industrial Parks as a means to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth for our beloved country.

Yours faithfully,

Musbau Semiu Ademola MSA.
